The Kilby Family Scholarship was established in 2016 to honor the Kilby family and to honor high achieving graduates of Clinton High School. The Kilby Family has a long history with Clinton. Ella Beck Kilby graduated from Clinton in1909 and graduated from college.  She married Chris Kilby, an imigrant from Denmark.  Chris came to America as a 15 year old and settled in Iowa, eventually ending up in Utica as a mail carrier.  He was transferred to Clinton and went on to be a beloved letter carrier in the Village of Clinton.  He and Ella had four children who all graduated from Clinton.  Paul, the Salutatorian of the Class  of '40, went on to Cornell University.  Ina, Class of '41, went to Syracuse University.  Mary, Class of '42, also went to Cornell.  David, the Valedictorian of the Class of '44, went to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute after serving in the US Navy.  David was the last survivor of the original family and established a trust to support these scholarships to honor his family and to honor high achieving graduating seniors at Clinton High School.  The Trust that was established by the Kilby Family will provide over a $100,000 a year for the next 10 years to support the Kilby Family Scholarships.
